Netflix Original: Marcella

When looking for a new show to watch I often find myself drawn to many of the Netflix Originals and BBC shows but will give up after a short while as their lingo and mannerisms are hard to follow. When I heard that Marcella was a great show I told myself that I would give it at least three episodes before I made a judgement. I only needed the first episode to get me hooked. Over three days I watched all 8 episodes and while some of the jargon is difficult to understand you can get an idea of what is being said and what is going on.

The show jumps right into it with a woman who is being left by her husband and she decides to go back as a detective. Her reason for going back is that a serial killer has returned and she thinks that it is one who had killed before when she was still a detective. I will leave it at that because if any more information were to come out there would be plots ruined or the show would become more confusing.

I loved this show from start to finish and while the accents took a little getting used to, I highly recommend this show to anyone who is looking for a cop like show with more suspense. There are twists at many points and the show does this thing that I have seen in many BBC shows where they jump right in and they make sure that when you think you know whats going on, you really might not.I suggest people look to this show when they want a new show and it has 8 solid episodes that keep you guessing the entire time.

  1. I loveeeee BBC shows. I’m such a sucker for their period dramas. Netflix is great too though, I mean, Daredevil. I hadn’t heard of this one but it sounds interesting. 8 episodes is also a perfect length. I tend to find it hard to keep up with anything over 12 haha. Anyhow, nice blog. How’d you feel about sharing your work with a bigger audience? Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you’d like me to expand on that. You can find my contact details on my blog. I’d love to hear from you.
